Positive externalities of public education - 550 Words

Positive externalities of public education (Essay Sample) Content: Positive externalities of public educationAuthors name ()Institution ()(04/05/2012)Public education is the education that is provided by the government as opposed to private sectors. It is usually subsidized so that the citizens of a country can be in a position to afford quality education. In the United States the K-12 education is offered. It starts from Kindergarten for kids of ages 4-6 years old to grade twelve for those at the age of 16-19. Therefore the letter K-12 is the shortening of Kindergarten through the twelfth grade. It comprises of both the primary education and the secondary education. This form of education is also used in Australia and Canada (Samuel Herbert, 2011).Externalities are the benefits or costs to outside parties caused by the actions of an individual. Positive externalities are therefore, the spillover benefits to outsiders. The Public education is associated with some negative and positive externalities. In my discussion I will concent rate on the positive externalities which are associated with the K-12 education. I will focus on the positive externalities because; in order for a state to grow in many of its aspects we need to have educated people who will take on most of the development sectors (Samuel Herbert, 2011).First, public education is affordable to many citizens. This reduces illiteracy within a country and hence decreases in the level of crime. When violence is deficient within a society, the people have peace of mind and the productivity increases. This is a positive eternality to the members of the society since their activities are not interrupted. Theft cases will be minimal since educated persons have the skills to generate income through either self-employment or being employed in the countries productive sectors (Webb etal. 2010).The educated persons are the ones who are actively engaged in the affairs of the community. For instance, they help in educating the community on democracy and by doin g so they help in improving the democratic process within a country. They even volunteer to do activities which are beneficial to the community. This then yields a positive externality since that community will enjoy the services rendered to them by the people who have passed through public education (Webb etal. 2010).Improvement in technology is a fruit of education. Public education which is affordable enables people to advance in technology. The improvement in technology in turn gives rise to increase in economic growth of a country. This can then be termed as a positive externality to individuals in the society for having their members undergoing through public education. The decision making process is also enhanced and the markets then function efficiently. In this case you will find that the marginal social benefit is greater than the marginal private benefit hence externality (Webb etal. 2010).Finally I would like to support the existence of public K-12 system of education. T his is because from my argument above it is clear that the benefits derived from public education are many. It is also clear that the social marginal befits which are derived are greater than the private marginal benefit as opposed to the private K-12 system where private investors will try to raise the cost of education so as to get high profits from the same. If the education was left to private sector then the poor would not be able to get education and the economy the co...

This guide offers advice on a variety of topics such as how to handle rejection, when to use 'implied' agreement, and how to go about creating the perfect start-up business. It is an excellent starting point for writers looking to break into the field, but the information contained in it may be useful for anyone wanting to write an essay on any topic. This guide is available online for free, but if you do purchase it then it will be stored on your computer so that you can access it when you need it. It contains all the essentials for creating a personal essay. It includes a list of the main types of essay in detail, and there are tips on which specific types you should avoid when writing the essay. The guide also provides advice on the best approaches to use when writing the essay, whether you want to focus on the subject matter, focus on the style or just let the essay 'tell' what the writer wants to say.A good step in creating an essay is making notes. Using the list provided with the guide, make a list of topics that you would like to cover in your essay. Some examples of topics are businesses (whether an entrepreneur or a business owner), personal life, relationships, family or friends, skills and hobbies, goals, and so on. Now you have a list of topics to cover in your essay, you need to figure out how to start writing an essay. The first section of the 'Writers Memo Personal Essay Sample' guide is to remind the writer of the importance of starting a new career. Remember to avoid the use of 'implied' agreement when discussing jobs in the introduction to the essay. For example, instead of stating that, 'He told me that she wanted a job and I would give her the best chance of getting a job' do this instead: 'I told him that she wanted a job and he would give her the best ch ance of getting a job' is not implied but rather stated. The implication of an implied agreement would be that he would take the job and in return for the employment offer he would give her the best job. While the first option can be true, it is not the same as stating that he would work with her in order to find her a job. When writing a personal essay, don't use 'implied' agreements and instead ensure that the information provided is factual. Try to include enough details so that the reader can relate back to what you said in the essay and therefore make up their own mind. If you put in too much information without providing enough factual information, the reader might be convinced that you are not telling the whole story, thus making them disregard your statements and therefore disregard your essay. After creating the outline of the essay, then you are ready to start writing. First start with the major points and make sure they are accurate before working on the smaller details. Th en as you progress through the essay, start working on the small details. You can now add the small details and then continue the essay. The 'Writers Memo Personal Essay Sample' also contains a list of possible topics for an essay. Choose one or two of these topics and concentrate on each of them individually. By doing this, you will know exactly what you want to cover in your essay. Before you begin writing, look at the guides to see what material is included. This way you will know what will be included and you will be able to write the essay better. If you do not want to purchase the guide, then look online for other essay samples.
